Worth a visit so that you can say that you have been to the most South-Westerly point of Europe. There is a lighthouse where you can look out across the sea, or you can take a walk along the stunning cliffs overlooking the waves crashing against the rocks. From here, you can easily continue your journey to the historical town of Sagres.

A town set in the hills away from the coast. Famed for it's large market which sells fruit, vegetables and many local handicrafts.
A pleasant drive through pine and eucalyptus forests. Stop on the way at Caldas de Monchique, a small spa town with attractive traditional architecture, local handicrafts and an opportunity to try traditional dishes and sample the spring water. Foia is at the summit with superb views on a clear day and there are several good restaurants on the way up. Chicken Piri-Piri (spicy grilled chicken) is a tasty speciality dish of the Algarve, that must be tried whilst here.

A busy traditional Portuguese city with good shops, vegetable and fish markets. Take a pleasant walk by the harbour along the River Arade which leads out to sea. There are boat trips on offer, which take you along the river through the beautiful countryside to the town of Silves and back. There are many traditional sardine restaurants - a must for fish lovers!
