The Odelouca Valley is famed for the multitude of various birds that inhabit the area, and is particulary popular with ornithologists. Here are a selection of birds that can commonly been seen in the surrounding area and from Casa Dos Choupos.

Extremely rare, but we have seen this bird on a couple of occasions. Very distinctive with it's bright yellow body and black wings.

Run around in groups across the vineyard and neighbouring land. Normally spotted first thing in the morning and also in the evening as the sun goes down.
Particularly like the local River Odelouca and can also be spotted on the River Arade in Silves.
These birds are attracted to the fields and countryside around Casa Dos Choupos. We have many in our garden.

Normally associated with Winter scenes, but they also enjoy the heat and we have plenty of them here!
Common in Portugal and the whole of the Iberian Pennisula. Make their nests on the top of tall chimneys and other high structures such as bridge spans.
