One of our favourite beaches, off the tourist trail. We will give you directions when you visit us. Two small coves, separated by a small outcrop of rock. Stronger swimmers can swim out and round the rock from one beach to the other. Otherwise there are wooden steps connecting the two beaches. When the tide goes out, there is a tunnel leading through to an adjacent beach. Walk across the cliff tops to see stunning scenery and a naturally formed archway caused by many years of sea erosion. There is a small cafe which serves delicious omelettes, crepes, chicken and various refreshments.

This beach is particularly popular with the Portuguese locals, as it is away from the main tourist resorts and has a nice restaurant overlooking the beach.

A small beach which can get quite crowded due to it's close proximity to the town. This is the only beach which is easily accessable with a wheelchair.

Well worth a visit after seeing the main village and harbour of Ferragudo. As the name implies, there is plenty of space on this beach which also has some beach cafes and restaurants where you can lunch. Situated at the end of the River Arade, the harbour entrance to Portimao ensures that the waters are always calm, allowing safe swimming. This is an ideal beach to take children to and you can collect many seashells here.
A stunning beach with beautiful rock formations, but 116 steps down from the car park to reach it.
This beach is reached by walking across the cliff tops East from Carvoeiro. There are 115 steps leading down to it, but the beauty of the scenery can be appreciated from the cliffs.

Praia da Luz, a half-mile-long sandy beach, is located directly before Luz, approx. 5 mls west of Lagos. The sheltered beach is well suited for children and is enclosed by a large, dark rock massif on the one side, and a small villa community on the other. There is a pleasant promenade running adjacent to the beach with cafes, snack bars and gift shops.
